The Council is the tribunal authorized by the Coptic Orthodox Church to adjudicate applications for remarriage, grant or refuse permissions to remarry and all related family affairs.
Starting November 2019 , the council is presided by H.G. Bishop Boulos of the Diocese of Ottawa, Montreal and Eastern Canada, comprised of members of clergy Hegomenus Fr. Shenouda Doss, Fr. Raphael Bichara and additional lay counseling members (lawyer and psychiatrist). The Council Sessions will be held when the need arises.
In order to administer the petitions of those seeking the Church’s blessing and permission for remarriage, the OMECDCC has established this website with relevant contact and application information.
The Council seeks to apply the teachings of the Holy Bible and Church Law and cannons while protecting the rights and dignity of each person without discrimination and in full confidentiality and professionalism.

If you are applying for an Ecclesiastical Marriage Permit (EMP), please follow the steps below:
Please note that your application will remain “incomplete” and will not be studied until the OMECDCC receives the “Report of the Counselling Priest”
Incomplete applications or missing/partial fees may also result in delay of processing the case.
